Special Guests

Diecast model collecting is great, but would you like to speak with key diecast model industry representatives and Australian motor racing legends?

The Diecast Model Expo committee has invited die-cast model industry peers to attend and avail themselves to attendees during the Diecast Model Expo. Not only this, but also well known Australian motor racing drivers. Whether as a visitor or as a guest speaker at one of the Expo Events, the Diecast Model Expo is committed to providing attendees the opportunity of getting up close and personal with die-cast model industry professionals and racing legends.

Some of the Expo Events will incorporate speeches from industry peers and respected race car drivers. The Diecast Model Expo is in discussions with several race car drivers and teams to secure the attendance of some of the most famous names in Australian motorsport.

As more details are finalised in the near future, the Diecast Model Expo committee will regularly update this website and, should you sign up for the Diecast Model Expo newsletter, provide you with updates of these special guests as their attendance is confirmed.

John Bowe

John Bowe like most super talented drivers made his way into motorsport thru open wheelers. Showing his raw talent and speed, many opportunities came his way from very early on. Moving into touring cars is a common path as this is where the most fierce and determined drivers apply their craft in Australia. Bowe’s status rose sharply with joining Dick Johnson Racing. Much success was had during the potent Turbo Sierra era, then during the rebirth of the V8 war in the mid 90’s. Bowe continues to show his talent and pure desire to race cars, finding a rewarding home in the Touring car masters.

You can catch John Bowe by attending the Gala Dinner on Saturday evening. He will also do a brief signing session Sunday morning.

Colin Bond

Colin Bond is a true iconic legend of Australian motorsport. Starring in an era that was the birth of Australian touring cars, Bond’s career was right up there with the best. Lets not forget his skills off road winning multiple Australian rally titles too. Bond was integral in the development and racing success of the Holden dealer team and the Torana. With such a decorated racing career, he was inducted into the hall of fame in 2002.

Colin Bond will be attending the Gala dinner and this will be your only chance to get your models signed and a photograph with the legend.

Dick Johnson

As far as Australian motorsport legends go, Dick Johnson sits right near the top. Dick was known for his steely determination, quick wit and driving Fords. A five time touring car champion and 3 Bathurst 1000 victories top his illustrious career. After retiring from full time driving in 1999, Dick has continued to operate DJR and in 2014 was joined by one of the biggest teams in the world Penske Racing. We are absolutely delighted to be able to have a legend like Dick Johnson along to the 2018 Expo. A signing/photo session will be held on Sunday 11th November in the main Expo room.

Craig Membrey

As a young boy Craig Membrey was always fascinated with trucks and helping out at his father’s Transport Yard. After leaving school at 14 and trying a few jobs he was to return and work with his dad learning the ropes. When Craig started to run the family business only 5 trucks were in the fleet. He built the business up offering tray trucks, crane trucks, prime movers, flat tops, step decks, extendable trailers, and specialised trailers. Tragically Craig lost his eldest son Rowan at age 17 and now has become a Beyond Blue ambassador to aid in the awareness of depression and saving lives. All the Membrey transport machinery is always impeccably presented and Drake have recreated many items of the fleet.

You can meet Craig Membrey in the main expo room Saturday afternoon.
